Roland Tyler graduated from Barber-Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina in the field of Sociology in 1976. He began his working career as a Debit Insurance Agent for North Carolina Mutual Insurance Company where he gathered 10 years of experience. During his experience with North Carolina Mutual, Roland received countless Sales Awards including the President Club Convention and Agent of the Year.

In 1982, Roland was involved in a car accident and once on disability, was diagnosed with cancer and retired from insurance sales. He later married Janet Tyler, with whom he launched a business enterprise, and secured a Masters Degree in Counseling becoming an LSW and Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.

Tyler Productions, a clothing business, was created in 1994. Roland managed outside sales while his wife managed the clerical duties. The clothing store moved outside their home to 3637 Livingston Ave., and then to 3741 E. Broad St. where it currently resides and is better known as Roland’s Clothing.

He later became involved in the school uniform business which allowed him to give an ample contribution to the community on Livingston Avenue. The two were also able to offer support to neighborhood families who were struggling with at risk children and needed a place to vent. Roland has maintained two employees at all times and plans to remain alive and well in business.

CONGRATULATIONS!
